Hi Mr Ben,

There will be no additional levy or Additional Buyer Stamp Duty if you are purchasing a commercial property (retail shop, office, industrial properties etc.). But the standard Stamp Duty fee (approx 3%) is still applicable.

However, it is good to know that if you have purchased an industrial properties you will be liable to pay a Seller's Stamp Duty (SSD) if you sell the industrial property within the first 3 years from date of purchase. With the staggered SSD rates from 15% for the first year then to 10% for the second year then to 5% in the third year. After third year, there will be no SSD applicable.

Another thing to note for commercial properties is that Buyers may need to pay GST component if the Seller is GST registered, e.g. buying from developers.
