I currently co-own a hdb flat with my mother, i was added in as a co-owner after my father passed away 10 years ago. Will i still be eligible for any singles grant if i were to decouple from joint tenancy?

Hi, you should be able to get singles grant if you have not gotten any grants before, but best to apply HFE to see if you are eligible.

Hi,

If your name was added previously without any grants taken, you should still be considered 1st timer and should be still eligible for 1st timer singles grants assuming all other eligibility conditions fulfilled.

To remove ownership from this hdb, you have to write in to hdb branch to check with them whether it is feasible to do so, eligibility wise and financial wise.

Am unsure on the reason why your name has been added in as a co-owner of the property back then. The key consideration here will be if you have financed this property? If you have used your CPF to finance the current flat, then you will need to ensure that your mum, as a single owner after "decoupling" has the necessary means to refund you the CPF you have used including the accrued interest for this flat.

You are likely still able to enjoy your first timer status given that you have not enjoyed any housing grants or purchased any units direct from HDB prior. To be certain of this, you may wish to check directly with HDB.
