It depends on how the clause was written in the TA, but to my understanding.

1) Landlord is allowed to do this, as technically you will have to inform the landlord 2 months prior to end of TA.

2) The contract will be voidable (I might be wrong), and you will need a new TA, since the option to renew was stated to be 2 years.
