CapitaMalls Asia Limited (CMA) bagged a total of 11 green awards across four countries –– China, Malaysia, Japan and Singapore throughout 2011, including the first BCA Green Mark Gold Awards for the company in Malaysia and China.
JCube (pictured) was awarded the BCA Green Mark Platinum Award by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) of Singapore, recognising its construction excellence, green features, engineering safety and design.
The mall boasts eco-friendly features such as a rainwater harvesting tank and a grey-water recycling system. Set to open in the first quarter of this year, JCube features an iMAX cineplex and the only Olympic-size ice rink in the country.
In Malaysia, Gurney Plaza was awarded a BCA Green Mark Gold Award, the first for a shopping mall and for CapitaMalls Asia and CapitaLand Group in the country.
Likewise, CapitaMall Wusheng in Wuhan, China, received a BCA Green Mark Gold (Provisional) Award.
Meanwhile, Vivit Square in Tokyo, Japan, has been awarded an A rating by the Institute of Building Environment and Energy Conservation (IBEC) for its green features under the Comprehensive Assessment System for Built Environment Efficiency (CASBEE).

Singapore’s The Atrium@Orchard, Bugis Junction and Raffles City all received Green Mark Gold ratings while four other CapitaMall outlets in China were Green Mark Certified; the one in Xuefu was Green Mark Certified (Provisional).
